OPERATIONAL OVERVIEWThe MUSIC Epoch MultiLayer Switch Chip for a Layer 3/4 switch performs all of the functions necessary to route IPv4, IPX and IP Multicast packets at wire-speed; to recognize and categorize traffic flows, optionally using IETF Differentiated Services (DS); and to queue each flow independently in an associated SDRAM. Upon transmission, DS information may be remarked.
