Details
The NTE138A is a zener diode with a voltage rating of 7.5V and a power rating of 1W. It is housed in a DO35 package which is a cylindrical package with axial leads. Zener diodes are a type of semiconductor diode that allows current to flow in the forward direction like a regular diode, but also in the reverse direction when the voltage reaches the zener voltage. The NTE138A is commonly used in electronic circuits to regulate voltage and provide overvoltage protection. When the voltage across the diode reaches the zener voltage of 7.5V, it starts conducting in the reverse direction and maintains a constant voltage drop of 7.5V across its terminals, ensuring that the voltage across the circuit remains stable. With a power rating of 1W, the NTE138A can handle up to 1 watt of power dissipation without being damaged. This makes it suitable for use in various low-power electronic applications where voltage regulation is required. It is important to ensure that the diode is correctly connected in the circuit with the cathode connected to the more positive side and the anode to the more negative side to achieve the desired voltage regulation effect
