Details
The HCF4518 is a CMOS dual BCD up-counter IC designed for use in various applications such as frequency dividers, timers, and pulse width modulators. It consists of two independent 4-bit binary counters that can be cascaded together to form a single 8-bit counter. Each counter has separate clock inputs (CP0 and CP1) and reset inputs (MR0 and MR1) for individual control.The HCF4518 operates from a power supply voltage range of 3V to 18V and has a low power consumption of typically 20µA at 5V supply voltage. It features a maximum clock frequency of 2.5MHz, making it suitable for high-speed counting applications. The IC also has a ripple carry output (RCO) that can be used to cascade multiple counters together for larger counting ranges.Additional features of the HCF4518 include asynchronous master reset inputs for clearing the count to zero, buffered outputs for driving external circuitry, and Schmitt trigger inputs for improved noise immunity. The IC is housed in a 16-pin DIP or SOIC package, making it easy to integrate into a wide range of circuit designs.
